Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake

Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 cubes butter
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, salt and baking soda. Mix well.
In a medium sauce pan combine water, butter and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil stirring constantly, then remove from heat. Add milk and vanilla; stir well.
Combine the hot mixture to dry ingredients and mix well.
Pour batter into a well greased and floured cake pan 12x16.
Bake at 375 F. for 13 to 20 minutes or until tested clean. Do not over cook.
While cake is in oven prepare the top of the cake. You have two choices:
Marshmallows - Remove cake from oven and cover with 2 cups of marshmallows; return to oven for a few minutes until partially melted.
Frosting
Frosting Ingredients:
1 cube butter
1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon milk
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 pound powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
In a medium sauce pan combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix well until smooth.
Pour frosting over HOT cake.
Place on rack to cool.

On December 15, 1985, your mother made this for Tamsens 18th birthday. Nigarie was here from Australia. I thought it was super and asked for the recipe - but I had no pan then. Your mother made the frosting - not marshmallows.
