Gingersnaps

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 2 1/4 cups flour

  • 1 cup brown sugar packed

  • 3/4 cup shortening

  • 1/4 cup molasses

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl combine about half of the flour, brown sugar, shortening, molasses, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Mix well.

  3. Mix in remaining flour until combined.

  4. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in sugar to coat and place on an ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

  5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until sides are set and tops are cracked.

  6. Cool cookies for 1 minutes and transfer to wire rack.

Makes about 48 cookies. Enjoy!
